# CNC Milled Stainless Steel Drone Prototype Parts

Category: Precision CNC Machined Parts
URL: https://www.machined-parts-factory.com/products/precision-cnc-machined-parts/cnc-milled-stainless-steel-drone-prototype-parts/

This service makes CNC milled prototype parts for drones in stainless steel, color-anodized aluminum, brass and carbon steel. Typical parts are landing gear fittings, payload release mechanisms, camera mount plates, hinge blocks and fastener inserts. It suits UAV developers who need a few accurate metal parts quickly to test fit and function before committing to production.

- Small, detailed parts milled on 3-, 4- or 5-axis
- Stainless mechanisms, aluminum plates, brass bushings
- Passivation, anodizing or black oxide finishes
- Moving fits checked with mating parts if supplied

## How we make it
Prototype drone parts are usually small, with many holes and thin features. We mill them on 3-axis machines when geometry allows and move to 4- or 5-axis for angled holes or parts that would otherwise need several setups. Stainless steel is cut with sharp, coated carbide tools at controlled speeds to avoid work hardening, which can otherwise tear thin walls.

Stainless steel is chosen for wear and strength in small mechanisms such as payload hooks and folding hinges, despite being about three times heavier than aluminum. Aluminum 6061 or 7075 handles most structural plates. Brass is easy to machine for bushings and inserts. Stainless parts are passivated; aluminum is anodized, and carbon steel gets black oxide or zinc plating.

Prototypes are measured against the drawing, and a report is available even for single pieces. Where a part is a hinge or release mechanism, we check moving fits by assembling with the mating part when supplied. Typical uses include drone payload drop systems, folding-arm hinges, camera and sensor brackets, battery latch parts and landing-skid fittings.

## FAQ
### When should a drone part be stainless steel instead of aluminum?
Choose stainless for small, highly loaded or wearing parts: hinge pins, payload hooks, latches and threaded inserts. The weight penalty is minor at that size. For plates, arms and housings, aluminum gives a much better strength-to-weight ratio and is easier to machine.

### How quickly can you produce drone prototype parts?
Prototypes typically ship in about 3–7 working days after drawing confirmation, depending on quantity, material and finish. Anodizing or plating adds time, so if you only need a fit check, as-machined parts can be faster. We confirm the expected date with the quote.

### How do I get a quote for cnc milled stainless steel drone prototype parts?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
