# Laser Cut and Welded Steel Computer Case Enclosure

Category: Sheet Metal Fabrication
URL: https://www.machined-parts-factory.com/products/sheet-metal-fabrication/laser-cut-and-welded-steel-computer-case-enclosure/

This is a custom computer case, industrial PC chassis or server enclosure fabricated from cold-rolled steel, stainless steel or aluminum sheet. Panels are laser cut with vent patterns and connector openings, bent on CNC press brakes, welded or riveted, then powder coated. It is for system integrators and hardware brands building PCs, edge servers, controllers and test racks in modest volumes.

- Vents, I/O cutouts and holes cut in one program
- Press-in nuts and standoffs for internal mounting
- Steel for EMI shielding at low cost
- Fit-checked with covers and trays at first article

## How we make it
Enclosure panels are designed with flanges and hems for stiffness, then laser cut with vents, I/O cutouts and fastener holes in one program. Press-in nuts, studs and standoffs are installed after bending so internal hardware mounts directly. Corners are welded and ground for one-piece shells or joined by rivets and screws for serviceable designs. Removable covers are fitted to the base frame at first article.

Cold-rolled steel such as Q235 or SPCC is economical and provides good EMI shielding, but it needs powder coating or zinc plating against rust. Stainless steel avoids coating for clean environments. Aluminum is lighter and takes anodizing or powder coating, at higher material cost. Powder coat is typically 60–120 µm thick, so threaded hardware and grounding points are masked.

First-article enclosures are assembled with a sample motherboard tray, drives and covers to confirm fit. Overall dimensions, door gaps and flatness are checked, and coating thickness is measured. Critical dimensions are 100% inspected. Typical uses include industrial PCs, rackmount servers, network appliances, mining-rig cases, industrial HMI housings and control cabinets.

## FAQ
### Steel or aluminum for a computer case?
Cold-rolled steel is cheaper, stiffer for its thickness and shields EMI well, but it is heavier and must be coated. Aluminum is roughly one-third the weight, dissipates heat well and looks premium when anodized, but costs more. Choose steel for racks and industrial cases, aluminum for portable or premium products.

### Can you add press-in nuts and standoffs?
Yes. We install self-clinching nuts, studs and standoffs after bending, so motherboards, drives and power supplies mount without loose hardware. Specify the fastener type and thread size on your drawing, and we will confirm the minimum sheet thickness and edge distance.

### How do I get a quote for laser cut and welded steel computer case enclosure?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
