CNC Milled ABS, POM and Aluminum Prototype Parts
This is a CNC prototyping service that mills and turns test parts from ABS, POM (Delrin), aluminum, steel, brass and titanium. Unlike printed models, machined prototypes use the real production material, so strength, wear and fit can be tested honestly. It is meant for product engineers validating a design before committing to injection molds, castings or production fixtures.

Manufacturing
How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc milled abs, pom and aluminum prototype parts.
Prototype parts are programmed directly from STEP or IGES models, usually within a day of order confirmation. Most are cut on 3-axis mills with simple vise or soft-jaw setups; parts with features on many sides go to 4- or 5-axis machines. Plastic parts are cut with sharp, polished tools at high spindle speeds to avoid melting and burrs.
ABS is low cost and paints well, which makes it good for appearance models of molded parts. POM is stiffer, slippery and dimensionally stable, ideal for gears, clips and sliders. Aluminum 6061 prototypes stand in for die-cast or machined metal parts, while steel and titanium let you test strength. Finishing can be as machined, bead blasted, anodized, painted or polished.
Every prototype is checked against the drawing on the dimensions you mark as critical, and a short inspection report can accompany the parts. Typical lead time is around 3–7 working days. Engineers use these parts for fit checks in assemblies, functional testing, trade-show samples, small pilot builds and verifying a design before ordering an injection mold.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Should I CNC machine or 3D print my prototype?
Machine it when you need real material properties, tight tolerances or production-like surfaces, for example for snap fits, threads, sliding parts or load tests. 3D printing is faster and cheaper for early form checks and complex internal shapes. Many teams print the first concept and machine the final pre-production prototypes.
Can a machined ABS part represent an injection-molded part?
For shape, fit and appearance, yes. A machined ABS part has the same material but not the molded skin or flow-induced properties, and machining needs slightly thicker ribs and internal radii. It is a reliable way to check assemblies before cutting a mold, and we can flag features that will mold differently.
How do I get a quote for cnc milled abs, pom and aluminum prototype parts?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
