Knurled Brass and Titanium Dowel Pins and PCB Standoffs

These are CNC turned locating and spacing parts: knurled brass dowel pins, titanium Gr5 pins, threaded brass rods and PCB standoffs in brass, zinc alloy or stainless steel. Standoffs come male-female or female-female in ISO metric threads with black or passivated finishes. They are made for electronics assemblers and machine builders needing non-standard lengths, knurls or materials.

Manufacturing

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for knurled brass and titanium dowel pins and pcb standoffs.

Pins and standoffs are classic bar-fed lathe parts. We turn the diameter, cut threads or knurls, part off to length and chamfer both ends in one cycle. Straight or diamond knurls on dowel pins and press-in standoffs give grip in plastic or soft metal, and the knurl height is controlled so press-fit force stays consistent from part to part.

Brass is the standard standoff material because it machines cleanly and conducts well for grounding. Zinc alloy is a lower-cost option for die-cast or turned spacers. Titanium Gr5 pins are light, strong and non-magnetic, useful in aerospace or medical assemblies. Black finishes come from black oxide or black nickel plating; stainless parts are passivated.

Diameter, length and thread fit are checked with micrometers and thread gauges, and knurl diameter is measured on press-fit parts. Critical dimensions are inspected on every batch before shipment. Typical uses include PCB and display spacers, panel standoffs, locating dowels in fixtures, knurled thumb-screw pins, and threaded rods for small electronic and mechanical assemblies.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which material is best for PCB standoffs?

Brass is the most common because it machines well, resists corrosion and conducts for grounding. Nickel plating improves appearance and solderability. Use nylon standoffs where electrical isolation is needed, or stainless steel for strength in high-vibration assemblies.

Why choose titanium dowel pins?

Titanium Gr5 dowel pins are about 40 % lighter than steel, non-magnetic and highly corrosion resistant. They suit aerospace, marine and medical assemblies where weight or magnetism matters. For fixtures with heavy wear, hardened steel pins are usually more economical.

How do I get a quote for knurled brass and titanium dowel pins and pcb standoffs?

Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
