CNC Turned Steel and Aluminum Bicycle Axles and Spacers
These are CNC turned axles, hub spacers, bottom bracket sleeves, pivot bolts and bushings for bicycles, e-bikes and light motorcycles. They are made from alloy steel, stainless steel and aluminum on CNC lathes, with threads, flats and grooves added in one setup. They suit cycle and motorcycle component brands that need precise round parts for hubs, frames and suspension pivots.

Manufacturing
How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc turned steel and aluminum bicycle axles and spacers.
Axles are turned between centers or with tailstock support for straightness, with threaded ends and flats for wrenches or dropout keys. Spacers and sleeves are turned to exact lengths with square faces so bearing preload is correct. Pivot bolts are turned with precise shank diameters for bushings or bearings. Threads are cut or rolled depending on load.
Chromoly steel such as 4130 or 4140 is used for strong axles and pivot bolts; stainless 303/304 for corrosion-resistant spacers; 7075 aluminum for lightweight spacers and sleeves. Steel parts are black oxided, zinc plated or chrome plated; aluminum parts are anodized in colors. Titanium Grade 5 can be used for premium lightweight axles.
Diameters, lengths, threads and runout are checked on every lot, and critical dimensions are inspected before packing. Hardness is verified for heat-treated steel axles. Typical parts include thru-axles, quick-release axles, hub spacers, bottom bracket sleeves, suspension pivot bolts, dropout inserts and bushings for bicycles, e-bikes and light motorcycles, from prototype to production.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which material is best for a bicycle thru-axle?
Aluminum 7075 is light and common for road and gravel bikes, while chromoly steel is stronger and preferred for e-bikes, downhill and heavy-duty use. Titanium offers a premium combination of light weight and strength. Choose based on load, weight goals and budget.
How precise must hub spacers be?
Spacer length and face squareness directly affect bearing preload and alignment. Lengths are typically held to a few hundredths of a millimeter, and faces must be square to the bore. We machine both faces in controlled setups and check lengths on every lot.
