CNC Machined Carbon Fiber Plate for UAV Mounts
These are precision carbon fiber plates machined for UAV payload, battery, GPS and gimbal mounts. Sheets in gloss or matte black are profile-cut, drilled, countersunk and pocketed on CNC equipment with tolerances of 0.01–0.05 mm depending on feature. They are for UAV integrators and industrial drone builders who need light, stiff mounting plates that bolt on without rework.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cnc machined carbon fiber plate for uav mounts.
Mounting plates are cut on CNC routers with rigid vacuum fixturing to keep the thin sheet flat. Pocketing removes weight between structural ribs while leaving full thickness around bolt holes. Holes for press-in inserts or precise dowels are finished with a separate drilling pass to hit tighter tolerance. Fiber dust is extracted at the spindle, and parts are washed to remove carbon residue before inspection.
Plate sheets are commonly woven 3K for appearance or unidirectional-core laminates for stiffness. Matte finish hides scratches and reduces glare in camera views, while gloss suits visible consumer products. Where a plate needs threads, we fit stainless or aluminum inserts instead of tapping carbon directly, since threads in laminate strip easily. Edges can be sealed to prevent fiber fraying.
Plates are measured on vision or CMM equipment against the DXF, and flatness is checked on a granite surface plate. Every part receives visual inspection for delamination, voids and face damage before packing in protective film. Typical uses are payload adapter plates, battery trays, GPS masts, landing gear brackets and gimbal dampening plates.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can you tap threads directly into carbon fiber plate?
Tapping carbon laminate is possible but threads strip easily and fray under vibration. For reliable fastening we recommend press-in or bonded stainless or aluminum inserts, or through-bolts with nuts. We can install inserts after machining so the plate arrives ready to assemble.
Matte or gloss carbon fiber, which is better for drones?
Matte carbon hides scratches and reduces reflections that can appear in camera footage, so it suits camera and inspection drones. Gloss looks premium on consumer products. Mechanical properties are effectively the same; the choice is about appearance and glare.
