Cast and CNC Finished Stainless Steel Stern Drive Propeller
This is a stainless steel propeller for stern drive and inboard diesel engines, produced by investment casting and finished by CNC machining, grinding and polishing. The hub bore and spline or taper are machined to fit the drive shaft, and blades are finished and balanced. It suits marine engine brands, boat builders and distributors that need custom or replacement propellers.

How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for cast and cnc finished stainless steel stern drive propeller.
The propeller blank is investment cast in stainless steel to capture blade geometry. The hub is then CNC turned and the bore broached or machined for the shaft spline or taper. Blade surfaces, edges and pitch are finished by CNC machining or grinding against templates, and the propeller is statically balanced. Final polishing gives a smooth, efficient blade surface.
Stainless steels such as 304, 316 or duplex grades are much stronger than aluminum, allowing thinner blades with better performance and resistance to impact. They resist seawater corrosion well. Aluminum propellers are cheaper but bend more easily. Polished stainless finishes reduce drag and fouling. Rubber or composite hub kits can be supplied to specification.
Bore and spline dimensions are checked with gauges, pitch is measured with pitch gauges, and balance is verified before packing. Material certificates are available. Typical uses include stern drive propellers for leisure boats, diesel workboat propellers, replacement props for outboards and custom pitch propellers for performance tuning, supplied in single pieces or small production batches.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Why choose a stainless steel propeller over aluminum?
Stainless is considerably stronger, so blades can be thinner and flex less, improving efficiency and top speed. It resists impacts and corrosion better and lasts longer. Aluminum is cheaper and lighter and can protect the drive by bending on impact. Choose based on boat use and budget.
Can you make a propeller to a specific pitch and diameter?
Yes, if you provide the blade geometry, pitch, diameter, rotation and hub specification. New blade designs require a casting pattern. For replacements, a sample propeller can be measured. Performance validation on the boat remains the designer's responsibility.
How do I get a quote for cast and cnc finished stainless steel stern drive propeller?
Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
