Camera rigging parts are covered in threaded holes, so drilling and tapping accuracy dominates the cycle. We mill profiles and pockets on 3- and 4-axis machines, then thread-mill or tap hole patterns in the same setup to keep spacing exact. Dovetails for Arca-Swiss style quick-release plates are cut with form tools to a consistent 45° or 60° angle so they slide cleanly.
6061-T6 aluminum is light and strong enough for cages and handles; 7075-T6 is used for high-wear clamps. Because aluminum threads wear with repeated mounting, stainless thread inserts are an option for heavily used holes. Sandblasting and black anodizing give the matte, non-reflective finish preferred on set, and laser engraving marks thread sizes and logos.
Thread sizes are verified with go/no-go gauges, dovetail angles and widths are measured, and the first article is test-fitted with standard rails and plates. All cosmetic surfaces are inspected after anodizing for scratches and color consistency. Yes. We machine dovetail profiles to your drawing, typically following the common Arca-Swiss style dimensions, and test-fit the first article in standard clamps. If you have a specific clamp brand to match, send a sample so we can confirm the fit before production.
Will aluminum threads wear out on a camera cage?
Aluminum threads can wear when screws are fitted and removed many times. For high-use holes, such as the base mounting points, we can install stainless thread inserts. They add a small cost but give a much longer service life, which suits rental and production equipment.
