Precision CNC Machined Parts

CNC Machined Brass and Aluminum Plated Precision Parts

These are CNC machined precision parts in brass and aluminum, finished with electroplating, anodizing, polishing or painting. Plating options include nickel, chrome and zinc for brass and steel components, while aluminum is usually anodized. Critical features are held to about ±0.01 mm, orders start at one piece and samples are typically available within 7 days. They suit buyers needing plated metal parts.

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for cnc machined brass and aluminum plated precision parts.

Plating adds a thin metallic layer, usually a few microns to around 25 µm depending on the specification, so machined surfaces need to be smooth and burr-free first. We machine and deburr parts, then send them through cleaning and plating. For threads and precision fits, we account for plating thickness or mask features. Parts are racked or barrel plated depending on size and appearance.

Nickel plating on brass gives a bright silver look and good corrosion resistance. Chrome over nickel adds a harder, more reflective finish. Zinc plating is mainly for steel parts as rust protection. Aluminum is typically anodized rather than plated, since anodizing integrates with the surface. Polishing before plating improves gloss; painting suits colored parts.

Plating thickness can be checked on samples, adhesion and appearance are inspected, and critical dimensions are measured after finishing, so coating growth on threads and fits is confirmed rather than assumed. Thread gauges and CMM reports are available on request. Typical uses include plated brass fittings, decorative hardware, electrical connectors, audio knobs, bathroom accessories and appliance trim parts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between nickel and chrome plating on brass?

Nickel plating gives a slightly warm silver color and good corrosion protection. Chrome is usually applied over nickel and is harder, bluer and more reflective. Chrome resists scratches better, while nickel alone is cheaper and gives a softer look.

Can aluminum parts be nickel or chrome plated?

Yes, but aluminum needs special pretreatment, such as zincate, before plating, which adds cost and complexity. For most aluminum parts, anodizing is more practical and durable. Plating is chosen when a metallic chrome look or conductivity is required.

How do I get a quote for cnc machined brass and aluminum plated precision parts?

Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
