Color Anodized CNC Machined Aluminum Parts
These are CNC milled and turned aluminum parts finished with Type II color anodizing, in black, red, blue, gold, green, purple and custom shades. Typical parts are covers, knobs, brackets, spacers and housings made from 6061-T6, 6063 or 7075-T6. The service suits brands that want colored metal parts with a durable finish, from prototypes to production batches.

Manufacturing
How we make this part
Process, material options and inspection for color anodized cnc machined aluminum parts.
Anodizing grows an oxide layer from the aluminum surface itself, which is then dyed and sealed. Before anodizing, parts are machined, deburred and often blasted or brushed to set the texture, because the anodize follows the surface beneath it. Parts are racked on contact points that leave small bare marks; we place these on hidden faces agreed with you.
Alloy choice affects color: 6063 and 6061 give bright, even colors, while 7075 can look slightly darker or uneven, and cast aluminum is generally not suitable for cosmetic anodizing. Type II layers of about 5–25 µm offer good corrosion resistance. Darker colors such as black and deep blue are the most fade-resistant outdoors; light reds and purples fade faster under UV.
Color is checked against an approved sample, and coating thickness can be measured with an eddy-current gauge. Threads and fits are rechecked after anodizing because of coating growth. Each part is inspected for streaks, spots and rack marks. Typical products include consumer electronics covers, bicycle and motorcycle accessories, RC model parts, audio knobs and lighting housings.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which anodize colors last longest outdoors?
Black and dark colors such as deep blue or bronze generally resist UV fading best. Bright reds, pinks and purples tend to fade faster in direct sunlight. For outdoor parts, a well-sealed, thicker anodize layer improves durability, and we can suggest suitable dyes.
Why do some parts show small marks after anodizing?
Each part must be held on a rack with electrical contact during anodizing, which leaves small uncoated spots. We place contacts on hidden faces, holes or areas you approve. If no mark is acceptable anywhere, we can discuss special racking or post-anodize touch-up options.
