CNC Machined Aluminum Vinyl Record Weight Stabilizer

This is a turntable record weight, also called a record stabilizer or clamp, that sits on the spindle to press the vinyl flat against the platter. It is CNC turned from aluminum, brass, stainless steel or copper, with the bore sized for standard spindles and a damping pad option. It is made for audio brands and turntable makers seeking precise, balanced, attractive stabilizers.

Manufacturing

How we make this part

Process, material options and inspection for cnc machined aluminum vinyl record weight stabilizer.

Record weights rotate with the record, so balance and concentricity are critical. We turn the body in one setup so the outer diameter, base face and spindle bore are concentric, then add grip rings, logo recesses or decorative grooves. The underside is machined flat or slightly recessed around the label area, and a felt, cork or rubber damping pad can be bonded in place.

Aluminum weights are light, about 150–300 g, and suit turntables with soft suspensions. Brass and stainless steel weights, often 400–700 g, add more mass for rigid turntables but must not exceed the bearing load the manufacturer allows. Copper offers a distinctive look but tarnishes without coating. Finishes include anodizing, polishing, brushing and PVD-style coatings.

Weight is checked against target, spindle bore fit is tested on a standard spindle, and runout is measured to prevent wobble. Every weight is inspected for cosmetic defects before packing. Typical uses include record weights for direct-drive and belt-drive turntables, spindle clamps, platter mats with metal rings and accessories sold by hi-fi brands.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How heavy should a record weight be?

It depends on the turntable. Light aluminum weights around 150–300 g suit most belt-drive and suspended designs. Heavier brass or stainless weights work on rigid direct-drive turntables. Always check the maximum load the turntable manufacturer recommends for the platter bearing.

Does a record weight improve sound?

A record weight presses the vinyl flat against the platter, which can reduce warping effects and resonance, especially on slightly warped records. The improvement varies by turntable and record condition. Machining accuracy matters because an unbalanced weight can cause wobble.

How do I get a quote for cnc machined aluminum vinyl record weight stabilizer?

Send a 3D model (STEP or IGES) and a 2D drawing with tolerances, material, finish and quantity through the quote form or by email. An engineer replies within 24 hours on business days with price, lead time and any DFM suggestions.
